Venu Desi Farms – Embracing Organic Poultry the Right Way
At Venu Desi Farms, we believe that organic poultry is not just about what birds eat — it's about how they live, grow, and coexist with nature. Our approach connects poultry farming with a broader sustainable system, where birds and crops support each other in a natural cycle
A Balanced System
In an organic farm like ours, nothing goes to waste. Poultry droppings enrich the soil, and in return, the farm provides feed and natural bedding from the crops. This healthy interdependence creates a closed-loop ecosystem that benefits both animals and the land.
Free-Range & Cage-Free Living
Our birds are never kept in cages. They roam freely in lush, green surroundings — because movement, fresh air, and sunshine are essential to their well-being. We maintain a limited flock size so that each bird gets ample space and care, and we can move them around as part of rotational farming to keep the soil and pasture healthy.
Slow-Growing, Indigenous Breeds
We raise only slow-growing, traditional breeds that are better suited to outdoor living. No beak trimming, no stress — just natural behavior and a life full of freedom. If faster-growing breeds are used, we ensure they are not processed before 81 days of age, as per organic standards.
Natural Water, Healthy Habitat
Where possible, our birds have access to natural water bodies like ponds or streams. If not, we set up alternatives that comply with organic norms. Their shelter is thoughtfully built — not just for safety, but to encourage natural roaming and comfort.
Prevention Over Cure
We focus on disease prevention through biosecurity:
Farms are thoroughly cleaned between batches
Rest periods are observed (at least 2 months per year)
Only emergency antibiotics approved under organic rules are used
No harsh chemicals. No artificial growth promoters. Just clean, sustainable farming.
Certified & Transparent Farming
Every part of our organic poultry management is documented and updated yearly. We follow all protocols laid out by organic certification boards, and our farm is open to audits and checks — because trust matters.
India’s Organic Opportunity
While India is a major player in organic plant products, organic poultry is still emerging. With increasing health awareness and demand for chemical-free meat, organic poultry farming has huge potential — both for domestic consumption and export.
However, to truly grow this sector, the following challenges must be addressed:
Limited awareness among farmers about organic poultry methods
Lack of support infrastructure like training and funding
Complex export regulations set by developed countries
Few certifying agencies for organic poultry
